Helsingør, Denmark

Kronborg Castle, the setting for Shakespeare's Hamlet.

The train station where I met up with third cousin Eva-Karin Janson and her husband, Hans, who live near Malmö, Sweden. Eva-Karin is the 3rd great-granddaughter of my 4th great grandfather, Sven Ellberg.

A small oil painting I found in a charity shop in town for 10  krone, about $2. It appears to have been painted in 1817 if the artist's signature is to be believed. A closeup of the artist's name and date is shown below. At first, it looked like the year was 1917, but closer inspection suggests the 9 to resemble an incomplete 8.

  1. Neal, love the painting you acquired. Should go quite well when you settle into an apt/house again. Also loved the ancestry update at the train station. Very cool. Love you and miss you.
